Survival Strategy

For the last few years, Slovenian architects have been put to a hard test. It is well known that the life of an architectural office does not resemble a long, quiet river. Numerous factors, such as uncertain competitions, unreliable clients and political and economic turmoil impede the work of offices and require of them flexibility and adaptation. But when suddenly, almost overnight, competitions and clients disappear, then it is not about adaptation anymore, but about survival. Such a position, of course, is not unusual, but a few years ago, like many other young offices established after Slovenia had gained independence twenty years ago, Ofis architects, Špela Videčnik and Rok Oman, found themselves in it.
